Eagle Farm will play host to nine metropolitan races on Saturday, for what will be the main Easter Saturday racing in Queensland. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail will be out five and a half metres for the entire circumference of the course. Horsebetting.com.au’s Queensland form analyst brings to you his best bets, value picks and Quaddie numbers for Saturday’s meeting which kicks off at 11:53am AEST.
Best Bet: Wren’s Day
Cody Morgan’s Wren’s Day was a dominant winner on the sixth of March in a 1400m Class 3 at this track with 59kg on his back. The start prior he was only beaten by a quarter of a length by Ventura Ocean who has since won again, so that form looks handy. The son of Medaglia d’Oro stays at the seven furlongs on Saturday, rises in class to BM90 but gets 3kg taken off thanks to Leah Kilner’s claim. Drawn ideally in barrier six, the seven-year-old can land one out, one back and be producing strong closing splits to win again.

Next Best: Clearance Sale
Bryan & Daniel Guy look to have a smart one in Clearance Sale, so it is good to see him resume in a nice race. The three-year-old gelded son of Hinchinbrook finished fourth on debut behind Shooting For Gold and then ran second at his next start, finishing a length and a half off Little River, who is a nice horse. He then won his next two starts by a cumulative three lengths at Eagle Farm and the Sunshine Coast before coming to the end of his prep in October when third to Mass Destruction. That form all reads very well in the BM72 over 1200m for a gelding who can go on to better things this carnival. Michael Rodd on board from barrier four looks the perfect way to start his campaign.

Best Value: Savvy Oak
Ex-Victorian gelding Savvy Oak showed a lot of promise early in his career with a monster win on debut at Echuca, before going on to be runner-up in the 2019 South Australian Derby. The son of Savabeel has only had the one win since then in a Benchmark 90 at Flemington nearly 18 months ago, but we like the fact that he has been sent north to Rob Heathcote, where he will face a change of scenery and lesser grade. The now five-year-old has had a 75-day let up, so he should carry a bit of residual fitness with him since his five length defeat by Coolth in Melbourne. Back to a Class 3 with 57kg after Adin Thompson’s claim looks a nice starting point in Queensland. Happy to have a bet each-way.
