Creative Genius set for more success

Creative Genius bounced back to its best last time out and trainer Steven Cole fancies the horse can continue the run on Friday at Ruakaka.

The son of Master Of Design missed out two starts back before it relished the improved footing at Ellerslie where he put away a competitive line-up of Rating 65 milers.

Cole said he knew the four-year-old would find its best sooner rather later.

“His last run was really good and we were very confident,” Cole said.

“Before that at Te Rapa we should really have scratched him when the rain came and getting back on the better ground was a real positive for him.”

A past winner at Ruakaka, Creative Genius will be ridden by the in-form Alysha Collett in the Dargaville Racing Club’s Northland Cup.

“He’s trained on really well and it looks another winnable race for him.”

If the horse makes it safely through its Ruakaka assignment, Creative Genius will be set for an undercard feature on Group One Zabeel Classic day at Ellerslie on Boxing Day.

“He’s a pretty talented miler and a race like the Dunstan Feeds Championship Final is the main aim for him at this stage,” Cole said.

“Now the weather looks like it’s settled down we can plan with a bit more certainty.”
