Chris Waller has got three horses in the top 18 of the Caulfield Cup order of entry.

Racing Victoria (RV) has released the Order of Entry for the 2022 Caulfield Cup (2400m), to be run on October 15

Crystal Pegasus sits atop the Order of Entry for the 145th running of the Caulfield Cup courtesy of his win in the ballot exempt Mornington Cup in March of this year.

He is one of three Chris Waller-trained runners safely inside the top 18 alongside soon-to-arrive import El Bodegon (7th) and Hinged (16th), while the stable’s Sydney Cup runner-up Sheraz (21st) and 2021 Queensland Derby winner Kukeracha (25th) are poised just outside.

Top-weight Spanish Mission (Peter Moody) and current favourite Duais (Edward Cummings) fill positions two and three, while 15th ranked Earlswood is poised to give 2022 Colin Alderson Award winner Maddie Raymond her first Cup runner.

Among the favoured horses down the Caulfield Cup Order of Entry who will require a standout performance and/or attrition to secure a start are Perth Cup winner Midnight Blue (40th), Emissary (43rd), Surefire (47th) and Interpretation (59th).

Gold Trip, the second highest weighted entry on 57.5kg, is currently equal 60th having not passed the first ballot clause. He can do so by finishing in the top three in a Group race of 1600m or further, or by winning a Listed race of 1600m or further.
