First Race 11:45am AEST

A nine-race card is set down for judgement at Caulfield on Saturday afternoon as racing return to the Heath after a fortnight at Flemington. The track is rated a Good 4 with the rail out 3m the entire circuit which should see the track play fairly throughout the day. The team at HorseBetting.com.au brings you the best bets, top odds and free quaddie numbers for the meeting getting underway at 11:45am AEST.

Best Bet: Race 2 #13 Sugartown @ $4.20 Sportsbet

Having won her first two runs this campaign in emphatic style, the Danny O’Brien-trained Sugartown looks the one to be with in the second event at Caulfield. The Shamus Award filly was last seen winning a BM64 at Bendigo on May 16 over 1100m and comes to town for the first time and looks hard to hold out in the BM78. From barrier seven, under Damien Thornton, we expect him to settle the filly in the first four of the field in the one-one. If afforded that early luck with a bit of cover, expect her to peel out at the top of the straight and put a gap on this lot quickly.

Best BetRace 2 – Sugartown (#13) $4.20 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Race 3 #10 The Gauch @$4.00 Bet365

On Saturday the Maher & Eustace-trained The Gauch returns from a six-month spell and in that time he has been gelded. He gets the services of Matthew Cartwright for his first-up run and with the jockey’s 3kg claim gets in at the minimum weight of 54kg. Expect the Deep Field gelding to be in the second half of the field upon settling and with a bit of luck will have himself in the finish when the whips are cracking. He has a sharp turn of foot and having finished outside of the top two on just one occasion from seven runs, he is a horse you can back with confidence, especially as he has won over 1200m in the past.

Next BestRace 3 – The Gauch (#10) $4 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Race 9 #4 Banquo @ $7.00 Sportsbet

Danny O’Brien and Damien Oliver team up with their four-year-old stallion Banquo who is back from a seven-month spell. On his day, Banquo can compete with some of the best sprinters in the country. His run two starts back saw him finish two lengths off Behemoth in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, before being sent around as a market fancy in the Linlithgow Stakes at his subsequent start. If Ollie can settle him with cover early on, he has a clear class edge on some of his rivals here and could prove hard to hold out at a nice price.

Best ValueRace 9 – Banquo (#4) $7 with Sportsbet
