Best Bet at Casterton: Loose Lip Lloyd

The Belinda O’Loughlin-trained Loose Lip Lloyd was a determined winner at Mount Gambier on July 5 and looks hard to beat once again. The four-year-old was forced to travel four-wide the trip but managed to grab victory in the shadows of the winning post in a 0-54 event. This being a 0-58 is no harder and from barrier four draws to gain every advantage in running under Tom Ryan. Despite not finding the top three in four starts at Casterton and has the same record in six second-up runs, Loose Lip Lloyd just needs to replicate his last start to be winning.

Best Bet

Race 7 – Silks#4 Loose Lip Lloyd (4)

4yo Gelding | T: Belinda O’Loughlin | J: Tom Ryan (69.5kg)

Next Best at Casterton: Roland Garros

Roland Garros was a smart BM120 Steeplechase winner at Warrnambool on July 2 and we expect he will go on with the job this weekend. The eight-year-old gelding managed to lead throughout and put 1.5 lengths on Brungle Bertie in second, with a further 12 lengths to Under The Bridge in third. William McCarthy will have this bloke doing as he pleases out in front and with another clean jumping performance, Roland Garros should prove too good on the flat for his rivals.

Next Best

Race 4 – Silks#3 Roland Garros (8)

8yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: William McCarthy (69kg)

$2.80 with Palmerbet

Next Best Again at Casterton: Frankenstar

Kathryn Durden’s Frankenstar looked to have its opportunity at Pakenham on July 16 and on the quick back-up can go one better than his narrow second last time out. The six-year-old gelding managed to stalk the speed throughout on that day and despite having every chance went down by the barest of margins to The Rattlin’ Bog. He is proven on wet tracks and from barrier one will be given every conceivable chance to break his maiden over the hurdles.

Next Best Again

Race 3 – Silks#3 Frankenstar (1)

6yo Gelding | T: Kathryn Durden | J: Darryl Horner (Jnr) (67.5kg)
