Betting tips for The Everest day at Randwick with form and odds

Randwick racing tips

AUSTRALIA’S best sprinters line up this Saturday for the $10 million Everest, but it’s not the only feature race at Randwick.

The bumper 10-race card includes the Anniversary Highway, St. Leger Stakes, Sydney Stakes and the Craven Plate.

We have free racing tips, form and odds for every race at Randwick this Saturday and punters can sign up to Neds.com.au for up to $500 in bonus bets.

Race 1 – Highway Consolation (1400m)

I Don’t Give a Damn has been given a shocking barrier of 17, but it has good natural barrier speed and a wealth of ability. The Danny Williams-trained four-year-old scored its Highway Handicap win last start by an incredible 6.5 lengths and its only defeat came at the hands of Highway Anniversary favourite Suncraze. It’s going to be tough to beat with any amount of luck from out wide.

My Tagoson comes into this race with consecutive wins at the Highway level and it’s good to see Hugh Bowman sticking with it. The Rodney Northam-trained five-year-old likes to settle back in the field and produce a significant turn-of-foot, but it might have to chase down a smart type and give it a few lengths coming into the straight. It handles all track conditions so consider here.

Race 2 – Victory Vein Plate (1000m)

Lindsay Park lines up Alshahhad which was a trial winner last month. The two-year-old son of All Too Hard defeated only a field of four, but there’s always plenty of confidence in the camp with their juveniles and they have had recent success in this grade. Betting will indicate its chances, but we’re expecting Alshahhad to be respected by punters.

Punters will be hoping Legend of Condor shows more consistency than Condor Heroes, but similar talent would take it a long way. The Gerald Ryan-trained colt was a stylish trial winner at Rosehill, winning by two lengths over 900m. We will likely see bookmakers open it up as the short favourite, but trials form doesn’t always stack up. Follow the market movement on race day for the best guide.

Race 2 tip: Legend of Condor to win at Unibet.com.au

Race 3 – Reginald Allen Quality (1400m)

Regimen is a professional type for James Cummings which is making a rise in class. The filly by Sepoy has won three of its four starts, which included a narrow win at Warwick Farm last start after sitting on the pace. It will need to work from out wide in barrier eight and that’s a big negative, but it has the form on the board and bookmakers should have it safe in the market.

Workdrinks was a winner on debut before running second behind Godolphin’s Beacon and Demerara. It could well finish second behind another Cummings-trained runner in Regimen here, but Workdrinks has more upside than most in this field and the rise in distance only helps its cause. We think Workdrinks could cause a minor upset in the Reginald Allen Quality.

Race 4 – Anniversary Handicap (1400m)

Suncraze is a quality type for Melanie O’Gorman which endures six consecutive second placings before putting two wins on end this campaign. The talented son of Henrythenavigator scored easily by three lengths at Randwick two starts back before narrowly getting the edge on Don’t Give a Damn last start. That form might get franked earlier in the day and it’s an adaptable type which doesn’t need luck in running.

Pumpkin Pie has gone off the boil a touch, but it possesses more ability than many of these. The winner of four from 12 ran fourth behind Foxplay in the Phar Lap Stakes in March and although it hasn’t run well since, it has been running in much harder fields than Highway Handicaps. Danny Williams should have it ready to go for this and it has drawn ideally in barrier two to get a good passage through the field.

Race 4 tip: Suncraze to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 5 – BM95 Handicap (1600m)

Oklahoma Girl is knocking on the door of a win after posting four consecutive placings. The Chris Waller-trained mare was a winner on this track in April before running second in The Roses and third in the Queensland Oaks at Doomben. The four-year-old was flashing home late last start at Rosehill over 1400m and the rise to the mile is ideal for this. We’ve seen better city fields than this and Oklahoma Girl looks a great bet at the weights.

Lubiton is another four-year-old mare which could provide the speed in the race. The Bjorn Baker-trained daughter of Snitzel was good natural speed as it showed when winning the Mona Lisa Stakes at Wyong earlier this preparation. Its last two starts have been only fair, but they came up against some nice types and there appears to be a lack of speed in this race. That will suit Lubiton.

Race 5 tip: Oklahoma Girl to win at Neds.com.au

Race 6 – St Leger Stakes (2600m)

Big Duke is a six-time winner which made solid ground to run second behind Foundry in The Metropolitan. The Darren Weir-trained six-year-old hasn’t finished out of the money in three starts at Randwick, which included a placing in the Sydney Cup, and it looks ready to win. It’s not running around at even money like it used to, so punters are getting good value for their dollar.

Who Shot Thebarman is a popular elect for punters and it wasn’t far behind Big Duke last start. The Waller-trained stayer has had only four placings from 16 starts at Randwick which doesn’t read well, but it excels over the longer distances and it’s long overdue another win. Punters always get each way odds and it could show some cheek.

Race 6 tip: Big Duke to win at Ladbrokes.com.au

Race 7 – Sydney Stakes (1200m)

If In Her Time doesn’t get a start in The Everest, it’s a great betting proposition here. The Ben Smith-trained mare was a stellar winner of the Premiere Stakes fresh up over English and that form is top for the consolation. The statistics read well with one win and two placings from four fresh up starts and it’s a multiple winner at this track and distance. The odds are appealing.

Washington Heights has been an exciting runner since returning to Australia after running in Hong Kong. The six-year-old has won three of its four starts since returning and it arguably should have been unbeaten after getting no luck in the Spring Preview. This is another step up in class, but the inside draw will give it every chance to win.

Race 7 tip: In Her Time to win ($3) at CrownBet.com.au

Race 9 – Craven Plate (2000m)

Happy Clapper is a quality seven-year-old which comes into this with the Epsom Handicap win under its belt. The Pat Webster-trained runner has been running behind Winx throughout its career, but there’s no Winx in this field and it should be one of the best-backed runners of the day at Randwick. It has drawn the inside barrier which should allow it to dictate its position in the field and be tough to beat.

Star Exhibit is the best of the rest and it had no luck in the JRA Cup at Moonee Valley last start. The Weir-trained stayer was forced wide around the home turn and it didn’t have enough time to warm up and extend. Running at Randwick is going to suit perfectly and it might be able to get back some of the money punters have burned since it won the Anniversary Vase in April.

Race 9 tip: Happy Clapper to win at Sportsbet.com.au

Race 10 – BM80 Handicap (1000m)

Nictock comes into this with four consecutive wins and it’s proving to be a nice asset for punters. The Cameron Crockett-trained gelding scored a gritty win over the talented In Times of War last start and it has the ability to lead them from start to finish. All seven wins have come on a dry track so any rain throughout the week might not help, but it should be a leading contender.

Latin Boy is another that comes into this with four straight wins. The Richard Freedman-trained gelding has been taking on slightly easier opposition in Sydney than Nictock, but it has been running slick 1000m times and that’s always a good sign. It ran 55.65 at Hawkesbury two starts back which is fair flying and a similar time should see it going close.

Race 10 tip: Nictock to win at CrownBet.com.au
