Racing heads out to Bendigo Jockey Club this Sunday afternoon for a competitive nine-race program kicking off at 12:20pm local time. With perfect conditions forecast over the weekend, we expect the track to hold its Good 4 rating throughout the card. With the rail coming out 9m the entire circuit, it may pay to be up on speed with a firm and quick deck expected.

Best Bet at Bendigo – Lafilio

Ben & JD Hayes bring Lafilio to Bendigo, pushing to break his maiden at start four. The four-year-old has two minor placings and a fourth, which suggests he well and truly has his hoof on the till. The Teofilo progeny was last seen finishing third behind Group 1-placed Aberfeldie Boy and subsequent winner Chase De Ace in maiden company at Pakenham. He looks to gain the gun run in transit in the one-one under Daniel Stackhouse, and with a well-timed sprint, Lafilio looks a clear best bet of the day.

Best Bet

Race 5 – Silk #4 Lafilio (6)

Next Best at Bendigo – Highland Girl

In the last, Matt Laurie’s Highland Girl will look to end a run of two straight second-place finishes with an overdue win. Since going to the paddock as a winner back in November, the three-year-old filly has found one better in both starts this campaign, including the smart Sweetened when resuming at Sale. Look for Beau Mertens to use this girl’s early toe to his advantage and have her taking up the running upon settling. She looks to have plenty of ability and if she can put it all together, Highland Girl should be sending us home a winner.

Next Best

Race 9 – Silk #12 Highland Girl (12)

3yo Filly | T: Matt Laurie | J: Beau Mertens (56kg)

Best Value at Bendigo – Boh Rhap

Archie Alexander will be hoping his four-year-old gelding Boh Rhap can return in style and knock off his maiden over 1300m. The four-year-old gelding showed enough in his debut prep to suggest that a race like this is well within his grasp. Despite no doubt wanting to get out over further, the race looks to have a bit of speed in it, which will help set it up for a swooper. He has come out of some strong maidens throughout his four career starts, and if it is a day that you can make up ground from the rear, Boh Rhap has a strong enough turn of foot to blouse his rivals on Sunday.

Best Value

Race 3 – Silk #1 Boh Rhap (9)

4yo Gelding | T: Archie Alexander | J: Declan Bates (59.5kg)

$10 with Ladbrokes
