Best Bet at Bendigo – Just A Rebel

Our best bet of the day comes up at the halfway point of the card when the Symon Wilde-trained Just A Rebel looks to build on an impressive debut second at Warrnambool on May 4. The four-year-old mare travelled three wide with no cover close to the speed on that day and did well to stick on and go down by a half a length in the end. Joe Bowditch sticks on board and will need to be at his best to have the Rebel Raider mare settled outside the leader without getting trapped wide. Having debuted at 1400m, the drop back to 1300m should not be a deterrent considering the stable is low flying in recent times. As long as Just A Rebel does not cover ground again, we simply cannot see her getting beaten in this.

Next Best at Bendigo – Kooled

In the opening leg of the quaddie at Bendigo, we are happy to side with the Ben Brisbourne-trained Kooled who steps out of a much tougher race than this at Flemington last time out. We were happily with the three-year-old gelding when he saluted in a Class 2 affair at Benalla two starts back and if he can replicate that type of performance, in this a BM64 event, he looks too hard to beat. Hannah Edgley hops back on board having steered Kooled to success at Benalla and from barrier eight, looks set to have her mount settled in the one-one throughout. His lone start on a rain-affected track came when being outbobbed on the line by the classy Bacchanalia, who looks to be a Group 1 quality horse. The $4.80 on offer from Unibet looks to be a ridiculous price for a galloper with arguably the best form lines in the race.

Best Value at Bendigo – Tatunka

In the last race of the day, we will be hoping the Bob Donat-trained Tatunka can break a winless drought that stretches across almost two years. The six-year-old gelding has been racing in tougher company than this in recent times and considering the wetter the track, the better he goes, has him right in this despite being a $34 chance with online betting sites. He is a 71-rater going around in BM64 company and following Hannah Edgley’s 2kg claim will go around with a more respectable 61.5kg on his back. If he can find a position in the first half a dozen with cover, then he is in this right up to his nose. He should be rock hard fit and considering he has already won at the Bendigo 1300m, we’re happy to have a crack at a big price on Tatunka in the last.
