Benalla full form & tips for Wednesday, January 24

BENALLA is back on Wednesday as the country Victorian track hosts an entertaining eight race card to help you get over the mid-week blues.

There are plenty of great gallopers running around this Wednesday so let’s take a look at which runners we’re favouring heading into the card.

Race 1 – Maiden (2046m)

There’s next to no speed coming into the race, which will suit The Auditor down to the ground. From a good gate the horse should be able to lead easily and give them something to catch from the head of affairs.

Race 1 tip: The Auditor to win at Crownbet

Race 2 – Benchmark 58 (2046m)

Fish Bones Fry will look to lead in a race that doesn’t have a bunch of early speed and it has the capabilities to win from the front. Two of its last three runs have yielded wins so we believe it can do the business once again here.

Race 2 tip: Fish Bones Fry to win at Neds

Race 3 – Maiden (1406m)

Medard will be the hardest to beat here even from the wide gate. Jumping from barrier 12, the horse will need some luck, but it has the early speed to cross and if it does so easily it will be hard to hold out.

Race 3 tip: Medard to win at Ladbrokes

Race 4 – Maiden Handicap (1106m)

Geneva Diva almost caused a huge boilover at triple figure odds on January 9 when it missed out by just over a length at Yarra Valley. That win was enough to suggest to us it is a much better horse than we, or anyone else gave it credit for and we think it can breakthrough at the second time of asking.

Race 5 – Benchmark 70 (1106m)

Our Project brings in terrific form here and will be the elect to beat. The horse drops in weight after a win in a lower class, and while the rail draw could be a disadvantage in a field with a bit of early speed we’re backing it in to perform once again.

Race 5 tip: Our Project to win at William Hill

Race 6 – Benchmark 58 (1106m)

Hussed is third-up, where it has never previously placed at one attempt, but after two back-to-back placings this preparation we believe it can strike here. The horse progressed in the second-up run following a third placing upon resumption and we are confident it can win this race.

Race 6 tip: Signoria to win at William Hill

Race 7 – Benchmark 58 (1406m)

Grandes is racing well and will be hard to hold out in a huge field. The horse has won or placed in six of its last seven races and is by far the best credentialed runner coming in. Grandes gets a horror gate but any luck in getting across will see it take this race out.

Race 7 tip: Grandes to win at Crownbet

Race 8 – Benchmark 58 (1606m)

Forget Doogans Rise’s last run, it is a much better horse than that. Prior to that fifth placed finish, the son of Naturalism had won two-straight races and placed second in back-to-back events just before that. This is a quality animal that gets a claim from Harry Grace.

Race 8 tip: Doogans Rise to win at Sportsbet
