Ascot is scheduled to host a bumper 10-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s West Australian horse racing expert presents his best bets and quaddie selections for the meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is out 5m for the entire circuit, and racing is set to commence at 12:36pm AWST (3:36pm AEDT).

Ascot Best Bet – Spritely Star

The Grant & Alana Williams-trained Spritely Star was a dominant last-start winner at Northam on October 3, and we anticipate she will continue on her winning ways here. Having box-seated off the leader’s heels, the Statue Of Liberty mare put some 2.75 lengths on Buzzoom back in second place. That runner has since come out and won midweek at Ascot. From barrier two, Spritely Star is almost certain to get the run of the race behind natural leader Jag The Joker. When the moment arises, look for William Pike to let her sprint clear.

Next Best at Ascot – Triple Missile

In the opening leg of the quaddie, we expect the Lindsey Smith-trained Triple Missile to kickstart her spring campaign with a win first-up from a seven-month spell. With two wins from two first-up runs, we know he will fire fresh, and with Brad Rawiller on board he is sure to get a beautiful run in transit. From barrier five, we expect Rawiller to lob the son of Smart Missile in the one-one and have him poised to strike when the whips are cracking. With three wins from four starts, Triple Missile has a strong will to win, and armed with a sharp turn of foot, he should prove too good for this one-metro-win field.

Ascot Value Bet – Regal Power

Coming off an eight-month spell, the 2020 All Star Mile winner is set to race in WA for the first time since December 2019. If Grant & Alana Williams have him back to his best, he is certainly going to take some beating here. Having won two of his three trials in the lead up to this first-up run, we expect he will run a big race in the Group 3 Northerly Stakes and perhaps go on to salute at a nice price. From barrier two, look for Patrick Carberry to go back towards the rear of the field. If he can unleash his normal turn of foot, he will be hard to hold out – and at a nice price too.

Best ValueRace 8 – Regal Power (#1) $13 with Sportsbet
