Ascot Best Bet – The Front Bar

The Adam Durrant-trained The Front Bar managed to get up in the final stride here on November 13 and is back to repeat the dose at the Ascot 1000m. William Pike sticks on board, which is a big help, with Pikey winning four times from five rides aboard the Sessions filly. As usual she will need things to go her way, being a backmarker, but with it set to be a genuinely run 1000m affair, she should be able to build through the gears between the 400m-200m and then really hit the line with vigorous intent over the final furlong.

Next Best at Ascot – God Has Chosen

Lindsey Smith and William Pike will be looking to right some wrongs with God Has Chosen following a close second to La Farola in the last at Ascot on November 20. Having been held up for a run until the final 100m, he hit the line strongly but left too much to be done. From barrier two, we expect to see Pikey settle the son of Playing God at the rear of the field and let things unfold. This four-year-old gelding won over the track and distance two starts back and has an electric turn of foot, so if he can keep out of trouble this week, he should be too good.

Next BestRace 5 – God Has Chosen (#3) $1.80 with Bet365

Ascot Value Bet – Bad Wolf

Despite our love affair with William Pike, we are taking him on in the second leg of the quaddie and hoping the Ashley Maley-trained Bad Wolf can turn the tables on Midnight Blue. When they last met in the Listed Ascot Gold Cup on November 13, Bad Wolf made steady ground along the rail to eventually go down by 1.5 lengths; however, he is set to get a 2.5kg weight swing on his rival here. From barrier three, the son of So You Think can get the suck run in transit, allowing Lucy Warwick to follow the speed. There looks to be no reason why Bad Wolf cannot bring up a deserved win in the Listed JRA Trophy.

Best ValueRace 7 – Bad Wolf (#7) $7.50 with Sportsbet
