The Group 3 Roma Cup, along with the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes, will headline the nine-race card at Ascot this Saturday afternoon. With warm weather forecast for the weekend, it is expected that the track will remain in the Good range. The rail will be in the +7m position for the entire circuit, with the opening race on Roma Cup Day scheduled to jump at 12:24pm AWST.
Roma Cup Tip: Amelia’s Jewel
Star mare Amelia’s Jewel will return from a five-month spell in the feature event, seeking her 10th win in just her 14th start. After claiming two Group 2 victories in Victoria before nearly falling in a messy Golden Eagle last start, the Simon Miller-trained galloper will drop back considerably in grade for this fresh run. This daughter of Siyouni is undefeated first-up (4:4-0-0) and at the track and trip (2:2-0-0), which makes it very hard to go past Amelia’s Jewel in the Roma Cup.

Gimcrack Stakes Tip: Golden Vale
After riding Golden Vale on debut, William Pike will be reunited with the Simon Miller-trained filly as she takes on black-type company for the second time. The two-year-old filly went into the Listed Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic undefeated as a hot favourite but could only manage a 10th-place finish. This daughter of Churchill has drawn barrier three, so Pike can push forward, settle on speed, and allow Golden Vale to show her customary dash in the final 300m.

Perth Stakes Tip: Sir Dreamalot
Sir Dreamalot showed that his outstanding maiden victory two starts back was no fluke, once again settling behind the speed and storming home to claim his second win in as many starts over 1000m. Given that there is good speed expected in the Perth Stakes, this son of A Lot should be able to settle wherever he is comfortable from barrier four. If he shows the same turn of foot as he has done so far, Sir Dreamalot can bring up a hat-trick of wins.

Old Comrade Stakes Tip: Mojo Rhythm
Mojo Rhythm has raced in Listed grade in all three starts this preparation, with his recent third-place finish in the Grandstand Cup being the best of his runs. The Mitchell Pateman-trained gelding has been ridden closer to the speed this campaign, but with plenty of runners expected to go forward here, Jarrad Noske may have to settle further back. This son of Playing God has a strong turn of foot when he is ridden colder, and if he can find a back to follow around the home turn, Mojo Rhythm can break through for a deserved win.

Best Bet at Ascot: Malkar Pindari
Malkar Pindari rattled off three wins from four starts to end last preparation and comes into this off a 950m trial victory. This daughter of Gingerbread Man looks to have found the perfect race to kick off her campaign, as she will take on several rivals who are either first-up or searching for form. Chris Parnham will take this girl to the back of the field, and if she is within three lengths of the leader at the 400m mark, Malkar Pindari will prove extremely hard to hold out.
