Arcadia Queen, the recently retired three-time Group 1 winner, is set to go under the hammer at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on May 25 at the Gold Coast.

The West Australian superstar racked up eight wins from 16 starts in her glittering career, which came to a premature end in April when she was forced into retirement due to injury.

Holbrook Thoroughbreds are offering up the five-year-old mare for her owners and breeders, Bob and Sandra Peters.

Arcadia Queen amassed more than $4,000,000 in prize money for her connections, and Bob Peters declared that the decision to retire her was “very tough”.

Peters has owned his fair share of star gallopers, but he has often said the daughter of Pierro is right up there with the best he has ever raced.

He compared Arcadia Queen to Old Comrade, who won four Group 1 races before also being forced into early retirement with a tendon injury.

“She was a world-class racehorse with huge ratings and really could have been anything,” Peters said.

With the 2018 Kingston Town Classic, the 2020 Caulfield Stakes and the 2020 Mackinnon Stakes to her name, Arcadia Queen is sure to attract plenty of interest on the first day of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.

Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said, “She would be an absolute standout for any broodmare band in the world.”

Arcadia Queen will go through the sales ring late on day one of the Magic Millions auction, which consists of race fillies and maiden mares.

The triple Group 1-winning mare Sunlight holds the Magic Millions sales record of $4.2 million, which was set just last year, and Arcadia Queen is expected to fetch a similar price.
