AJ Moir Stakes H2H betting: Russian Revolution vs. She Will Reign

Russian Revolution vs. She Will Reign

THE Moonee Valley night-racing season kicks off in style this Friday night as the Group One AJ Moir Stakes headlines the AFL Grand Final eve betting fixture.

While the Moir is close to the best racing field we have season to date, but we are focusing on two runners in particular here in the form of Galaxy Stakes-winner, Russian Revolution and Golden Slipper-winner, She Will Reign.

While this is far from a match race given the quality in this field, we feel the market reflects how the race will pan out, given the pair are two of only three horses in single figures for the Friday night feature.

Ladbrokes.com.au is running its enhanced odds special on the AJ Moir Stakes this weekend, which means you will get over the odds compared to the other bookies on every runner in this year’s $500,000 feature.

Racing second-up after its commanding win in the Group Two McEwen Stakes at the Valley, Russian Revolution comes into Friday night as the deserving $3.30 favourite at Crownbet.com.au.

Possessing early speed to burn across from gate 14, the star four-year-old has the form and arguably the best jockey in Australia Hugh Bowman on board. Everything looks to be in order for another big performance.

The last-start win at the Valley was brilliant and indicative of the group one talent the horse possesses and we believe Russian Revolution is the horse to beat come Friday.

Gary Portelli’s star filly She Will Reign was one of the most talked about horses in Australia at the beginning of the year, and after a resounding win in the 2017 Golden Slipper it is easy to see why experts are earmarking the three-year-old as a must-watch horse.

There is true apprehension around She Will Reign coming into Moonee Valley however.

This will be the the filly’s first attempt at a Melbourne-style race, which has undone great horses in the past on their maiden journey around the anti-clockwise route. One thing that does not worry us however is barrier 11, which the three-year-old overcame to claim the Golden Slipper back in March.

How She Will Reign handles the nuanced Moonee Valley track is the biggest question mark right now, but on class alone the horse is close to the best runner in the field.

Russian Revolution vs. She Will Reign betting tip

We are taking the in-form Russian Revolution to back up its brilliant McEwen Stakes win on Friday night.

The win in the group two contest back on September 9 was so strong we believed it was inevitable that Russian Revolution would go on to claim a group one title this preparation. Could it come in the horse’s very next start?

There is genuine x-factor about what She Will Reign could produce on Friday night, but the unknown about the Victorian racing style and the long layoff raises too many questions for us. If everything goes the filly’s way it has the talent to take this race out, but we believe the task will be a little tougher on the tighter Moonee Valley track.

Russian Revolution is the short-priced faourite across the board, and that’s why we recommend taking Ladbrokes.com.au’s enhanced odds ($4) on the elect to get the most out of your AJ Moir Stakes investment.
