Best Bet at Sandown: Legacy Bay
Legacy Bay is yet to finish outside the top four in three starts this preparation, with her most recent fourth-place finish in a BM70 showing that she is looking for a slightly weaker contest. The Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained filly will drop in grade and rise in trip slightly, which is expected to suit her at peak fitness. Luke Cartwright can settle the daughter of Zoustar behind the speed from barrier three and give Legacy Bay every chance to break through for her second career win.
Best Bet
Race 4 –
#12 Legacy Bay (3)
3yo Filly | T: Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman | J: Luke Cartwright (a3) (57.5kg)
Next Best at Sandown: Sessions Road
Michael, John & Wayne Hawkes would have been very happy with what they saw from Sessions Road first-up, when he sprinted sharply before peaking on his run late to finish third down the Flemington straight. The son of All Too Hard showed an explosive turn of foot, but the rider may have gone a little too early, as his mount faded in the final 50m of the 1200m contest. Blake Shinn will take the ride on Wednesday, and from barrier 13, he can settle Sessions Road at the rear of the field and save him up for one final sprint.
Next Best
Race 3 –
#8 Sessions Road (13)
8yo Gelding | T: Michael, John & Wayne Hawkes | J: Blake Shinn (57kg)
Best Value at Sandown: Another Nephew
Another Nephew produced a sneaky good run at Swan Hill last start, as the Patrick & Michelle Payne-trained gelding was slightly held up early in the straight before launching a huge run in the final 100m of the 1600m race. It appeared as though the son of Sizzling didn’t enjoy racing in behind runners, but once he found clear air, he finished off strongly. After drawing barrier three and with Billy Egan getting back into the saddle, the +1300 with horse racing bookmakers is way too big for Another Nephew.
Best Value
Race 8 –
#13 Another Nephew (3)
4yo Gelding | T: Partick & Michelle Payne | J: Billy Egan (58kg)
