Yarra Valley Races Betting Preview – 29th December 2020
Nine races are set down for decision on Tuesday as the week of racing in Victoria continues to build up to a big day at Flemington on New Year’s Day. With near perfect conditions for racing forecasted and with the rail in the true position we should see plenty of competitive racing throughout the meeting on Tuesday.
The first at Yarra Valley is set to jump at 12:55pm Local Time.
Race 5 – Polina (#10)
The Ciaron Maher and Dave Eustace trained Polina is certainly a filly choc-filled with talent, however she is yet to break through for her maiden victory. She went around as a drifting favourite at Stawell three weeks back and only just missed in a driving finish on that occasion after finding herself in a more forward position than previously. From barrier one, Polina maps to settle on the leaders heels and if Ben Allen is afforded any sort of luck at the top of the home straight the combination looks hard to go past in the halfway point of the Yarra Valley meeting.
Race 8 – Sasayuri (#1)
Having won two of her past three starts, the Steve Cunningham trained Sasayuri looks hard to ignore in the penultimate race on the Yarra Valley card. To go with those two wins this campaign she has not finished worse than third in her last five runs. She’s a galloper who likes to lead the field up and make it a genuine tempo throughout and maps to do something similar here at Yarra Valley. With the 3kg claim from apprentice Mikaela Lawrence she now gets in nicely in the weights and if she can get a quiet time of it in front she looks hard to run down.
Race 3 – Judestar (#10)
Back from a near six month spell, the Wendy Kelly trained Judestar is set to step out onto a grass track for the first time in her career after racing on the Synthetic surfaces throughout her winter campaign. She managed to run into the minor money on two occasions in that debut campaign, and if she can come back in that same form she showed, there’s no reason why Judestar can’t give the favourites a shake here. From barrier two, Jason Maskiell should have no issue in getting her to the front, and the only query is whether she is fit enough to get the job done first up from a spell.
