Seven races will be run and won at Wyong on Thursday in what is the sole provincial meeting of the day in New South Wales. The track is rated a Soft 5 and the rail is out 3m for the entire circumference of the course. HorseBetting.com.au brings you our best bets and quaddie numbers for the meeting, which will start at 12:55pm AEST.
Best Bet: Traminer
Peter & Paul Snowden’s Traminer comes to Wyong second-up for what looks a winnable Class 1. The lightly raced six-year-old gelding was a brilliant trial winner at Randwick on April 9th, defeating the likes of Victorem and Mizzy. He then went first-up to Kembla Grange and worked home well into fourth after getting a long way back on a leader-biased track. The son of Dream Ahead has never raced at Wyong but has placed second in two starts at Gosford, which is a similar style of track. Drawn in barrier 11, Brandon Griffiths is likely to have this gelding in the back half of the field, but they can again finish strongly over the top of them. The 1.5kg claim will help as well.
Race 5 – Traminer (#1)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369214_05]
Next Best: Sleipnir
Three-year-old Sleipnir has had just the one career start to date when third behind Mckeever and King Dick in a Bendigo maiden. Mckeever has since been a close second to Continuance at Warrnambool, while King Dick went to Kyneton to race away for a 5.5-length victory. The Hawkes-trained gelding stays at 1100m and should get an economical run from barrier one. In a race without much speed, Tommy Berry will have him right on the bunny before kicking away on the turn to win.
Race 3 – Sleipnir (#1)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369214_03]
Best Value: Salsa Man
Paul Perry and Kathy O’Hara combine in the last with five-year-old gelding Salsa Man. The son of I Am Invincible was a slashing second at Muswellbrook last time out behind Estroverto, and that should have brought him on nicely. He has had 16 starts at Wyong for two wins and nine minor placings, so getting back to this track should be an advantage. Drawn well in barrier five, he should be able to settle midfield with cover and then be finishing strongly.
Race 7 – Salsa Man (#6)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1369214_07]
