Wyong racing tips, best odds & quaddie | Thursday, June 1
What | Wyong Races |
Where | Wyong Race Club & Function Centre – 71-73 Howarth St, Wyong NSW 2259 |
When | Thursday, June 1, 2023 |
First Race | 12:10pm AEST |
Provincial racing heads to Wyong for an ultra-competitive eight-race program on Thursday afternoon. The rail is out +3m the entire circuit, and with pristine conditions forecast leading into race-day, we’re confident the current Soft 6 track will be upgraded into the Good range. The first race is set to get underway at 12:10pm AEST.
Best Bet: Viadelamore
The Chris Waller-trained Viadelamore found a tough assignment in BM78 company last start, chasing home stablemate Hometruths at Gosford on May 6. He was last turning for home but ran on impressively against some quality types, so dropping back to a more suitable grade in this Class 1 looks ideal. He’s a different horse since getting out to a staying trip this preparation, and with an ideal barrier to sit closer in the run, Viadelamore is going to be hard to hold out.
Best Bet
Race 4 – #4 Viadelamore (3)
4yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: Lee Magorrian (59kg)
Next Best: Highway Patrol
Highway Patrol is set to make his debut on Thursday afternoon, and based on what we’ve witnessed at the barrier trials, we’d be shocked if he wasn’t competitive. He had two jump-outs that caught the eye – particularly his latest trial at Hawkesbury on May 22, where this son of Pariah led throughout and went on to score by two lengths under a stranglehold from Rachel King. She keeps the ride, and if she adopts similar tactics as she did in the jump-out, Highway Patrol should be good enough to hold off all challengers.
Next Best
Race 6 – #1 Highway Patrol (4)
3yo Gelding | T: Edward O’Rourke | J: Rachel King (59kg)
Next Best Again: Sugoi Legend
We’re excited to see Sugoi Legend step out in the penultimate event of the program. This gelding by Maurice is yet to find Good track conditions in his four career starts, but that’s exactly what he should get on Thursday afternoon. He returned from a significant layoff at Hawkesbury on May 18 and showed enough when hitting the line strongly on the worst part of the track. The drying conditions should be ideal for this lightly raced three-year-old, who should gain plenty of race fitness from his return to racing. He maps to sit somewhere mid-field with cover and get the last crack at his rivals when turning in. At his best, this boy has plenty of class.
Next Best Again
Race 7 – #6 Sugoi Legend (4)
3yo Gelding | T: Richard & Will Freedman | J: Joshua Parr (58.5kg)
