Kim Waugh’s big grey gelding gets the services of James McDonald in this 1350m Benchmark 64. After winning in tough fashion on debut, he only just missed first up this campaign at Kembla Grange. Despite drawing poorly in barrier 16, he should be able to cross the field and get right into the race. The 60kg is another slight knock, but most of his main rivals only carry one or two kilos less. He should be too good for them.

Team Hawkes and Tommy Berry combine with three-year-old filly Artic, who lines up in her second start. She won her last trial before her debut, where she raced fairly well behind Deniki. Now, after having a day at the races, she should be much better for the experience. Berry will give the More Than Ready filly every possible from barrier nine and settle just off the pace. If she brings her midweek Sydney class to Wyong, she can win this.

Last-start winner Skyray looks overs in the last race of the day. His win was in much weaker grade at Nowra, but he has always promised enough to suggest that he might have finally put it all together. He has placed twice from three starts at Wyong and should enjoy what is tipped to be a quick pace. Tim Clark will settle in the back half of the field from barrier five before storming home. Skyray can win here at a great each-way price.
