Champion Winx has been named Australia’s Horse Of The Year for the third successive year.

Champion Winx has added to her unbeaten streak claiming a third straight Australian Racehorse of the Year title in a unanimous verdict.

Winx joins unbeaten champion Black Caviar and dual Cox Plate winner Sunline as the only three-time winners of the award.

The world’s highest-rated thoroughbred, who will on Saturday attempt to extend her winning sequence to 28 when she runs in the Group One Turnbull Stakes at Flemington, also collected Champion Middle Distance and Victorian Racehorse of the Year awards.

Trainer Chris Waller, jockey Hugh Bowman and co-owners Peter Tighe, Debbie Kepitis and Richard Treweeke were in attendance to accept the awards in the three categories after Winx won eight races during the 2017/18 season, six at Group One level.

Winx topped the Horse of the Year by polling a possible 150 primary votes with Redzel with Happy Clapper, Trapeze Artist and Humidor finishing behind the mare.

Waller received the Bart Cummings Award for training the most number of Group One wins (13) in the season while Bowman was presented with the jockeys’ equivalent having won nine times at the highest level.
