A SENSATIONAL run of form for Willy White Socks has continued at Leeton on Tuesday after Allan Chau guided the gelding to its fourth win from six attempts.

The 30-year-old jockey has now piloted the horse to four wins from four rides – exactly half of Willy White Socks’ career victories.

Chau says he has a special connection with the five-year-old.

“It’s always good to ride a horse four times for four wins,” Chau told HorseBetting.com.au.

I’ve got a pretty soft spot for him now.”

The jockey was full of praise for the horse, which has now won across multiple distances at varying weights in 2017.

“He’s just very versatile, and he’s won over 1200m and now 1900m and with lugging the 62.5kgs today it was a great performance,” Chau said.

“It was a big effort.”

Chau pushed the horse out early from the gates and was able to slot into the ideal position, getting a great trail into the race before presenting the gelding out at the optimal time to win and return +340 at Crownbet.com.au.

Al Gerard (+110 at WilliamHill.com.au) battled it out but could not get in front when it mattered, while Allelu rounded out the placings to deliver -142.86 to Sportsbet.com.au clients.

The winning jockey said pushing the horse out in the initial stages paid dividends by the conclusion of the race.

“I had to do a bit of work early to get across because it’s such an on-speed course here,” Chau explained.

“I got into one off the fence, then along the back straight I eventually got to the fence.

“They were rolling along really nicely and even by the time the 600m came the tempo quickened up again it didn’t matter because I had a really lovely trip behind the second horse all the way through which put me into the race.

“Then it was just a matter of running down from the top of the straight.”
