First Race 1pm AEST

Werribee Racing Club will help kick off a big week of racing in Victoria on Monday afternoon, where an eight-race card is scheduled to be run and won. Horsebetting’s Victorian form expert has found a couple of best bets and quaddie picks in a bid to build the online betting sites account balance up prior to the start of the Warrnambool May Racing Carnival beginning on Tuesday.

The track is rated a Heavy 9, with the rail in the true position throughout, with racing commencing at 1pm AEST.

Best Bet at Werribee – Cos I’m The Boss

Having finished second at all three runs last time in, the Mathew Ellerton-trained Cos I’m The Boss presents as the best bet of the day at Werribee. The Street Boss mare is first-up from a near 12-month spell, so whatever she does on Monday, she is only going to improve wherever she goes second-up. However, this is hardly the deepest maiden and if she runs to her form when we last seen her, she should have panels on this lot. From barrier one, we expect Damien Thornton to stalk the speed throughout and when a gap comes in the home straight, Cos I’m The Boss should quicken nicely and put this field away with ease.

Next Best at Werribee – I Am Ready

Despite needing to lug 63kg and Craig Newitt, the Lloyd Kennewell-trained I Am Ready should prove too hard to run down in the penultimate race of the day. The I Am Invincible mare gave his rivals something to chase at Geelong on April 13 and outside of a strong turn of foot from Miss Melbourne had the rest covered pretty easily. Her start prior, she smashed her rivals by five-lengths in an all the way victory at Ararat in a similar field that she meets on Monday. From barrier three, Froggy Newitt will have no issue in finding the rail and dictating terms throughout. If she can harpoon off the bend, then I Am Ready should be putting a space on her rivals. We’re happy to take the $2.35 on offer from online bookmakers.

Best Value at Werribee – Mr Pocket

Having not been beaten too far at Terang when resuming from a spell, the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Penciled looks to present great value over 1400m. Having settled outside the leader on that day, the Written Tycoon gelding loomed up as if he was the winner on the home turn, but ultimately ran in to one better. He was first-up after 10 months off the track, and with natural improvement he should take some beating on Sunday. From barrier eight, we expect Jarrod Fry to be positive early and have the chestnut gelding dictating terms out in front. He looks to be the natural leader on paper and should prove hard to run down.
