Weir, Morrish and Dwyer all handed fines

Darren Weir is one of three trainers to be fined after horses returned positive samples to a banned substance at country jump-outs.

Weir, Simon Morrish and Henry Dwyer all had horses return positive tests to a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, at the Burrumbeet jump-outs in June.

They all pleaded guilty with Dwyer being hardest hit incurring a $3500 penalty with Weir a $2500 fine and Morrish $1500.

The Weir-trained Air Guitar, Morrish’s Miss Astronomoore and Dwyer’s Heir To The Throne were all engaged in jump-outs for the purpose of gaining a permit to start.

Morrish’s good record saved him from a harsher penalty while Weir and Dwyer each made submissions that the stable practice that led to the positive would be fixed.
