Wednesday tips for the quaddie at Warwick Farm, March 9

Wawrick Farm
WE narrowly missed with our Victorian quaddie last week, but we previewed every winning runner and we’re back this week to snag the cash.

The Warwick Farm quaddie has caught our eye. It kicks off on Race 4 at 3:45pm. All four legs are wide open with many winning chances, but this will increase the potential quaddie payouts and that excites us.

Leg 1 – Rating 72 Handicap (1300m)

We are going to go skimpy in the first leg so we can make room for multiple runners in the latter legs. Two runners take our eye in the opening race with Brewery and Top Striker.

Brewery is a last start winner for trainer Gerald Ryan which demolished a handy field at Wyong. The four-year-old won by 7.3 lengths and it has been duly punished in the weights with 61kg to carry. Lester Grace takes its weight down to 59kg which helps and it won’t expend much energy from barrier one. Punters are confident it will go back-to-back at $2.90.

Top Striker is yet to win this campaign, but it has been knocking on the door and looms as the major threat to Brewery. The Gregory Hickman-trained gelding is yet to finish out of the money in four starts at this distance and any rain in the area would significantly help its chances. The claim of Costin takes its weight down to 57kg and it should go close at $4.20.

Leg 2 – All Too Hard R67 Handicap (1600m)

Falkenberg was an impressive last start winner at Hawkesbury and it’s bred to rise through the grades nicely. The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly placed on this course two back behind Way Too Good which was good enough to run in a big race at Canberra on the weekend. It does rise up in weight to 58kg which does concern, but $3.50 says it has a winning chance in this.

Happy Hannah is another last start winner at Hawkesbury which placed in behind a promising type two back. The stablebate to Falkenberg is another well bred More Than Ready filly which is destined for bigger races and it will only need some luck from the wide barrier. It’s the equal favourite at $3.50.

Encosta Line is over the odds at $10 and could be worth a chance in the quaddie. The Chris Waller-trained gelding ran second last start behind Triple Hero and its form prior included placings behind Dark Steel and Harlem Lady. That form should stack up here and punters are getting a great price.

Quaddie tips: 1, 7, 8

Leg 3 – Schweppes R72 Handicap (1300m)

Ravi has been a touch disappointing since resuming from a spell. The Snowden-trained filly ran second behind Bolero King last start which isn’t bad form. and it has already won on this track. The three-year-old is by Redoute’s Choice and is expected to win a few races. Chance at the big weight of 60kg and it’s paying a decent $3.50 with bookmakers.

Tremezzina is a one-win filly which scored a 1.5-length win on this track when it debuted. The Waller-trained filly finished under a length behind Alart in the Listed Reg Allen Stakes at Rosehill which should stack up nicely for this grade. It is due a win and the $9 available will surely boost quaddie payouts.

We will add second favourite Yattarna into the mix after it ran on well behind Strindberg last start. The daughter of Exceed And Excel mixes its form which punters are getting tired of, but on its day it can mix it with the best of them and it should be included at $4.50 in the betting.

Quaddie tips: 1, 2, 6

Leg 4 – Tabcorp Benchmark 71 (1600m)

Just the two legs for us in the last which isn’t the typical tactic, but we’ll stick with the form runners. Appoint Percy is coming off a Highway Handicap win at Randwick and it looked good in doing so. It won by three lengths and although this isn’t the Highway Handicap, it could continue on its winning way. Will carry a big weight, but we are expecting its price of $3.70 to drop.

Multifacets is our second runner after a handy third place last start. The two-win colt has been taking on tough fields and it defeated a good field two back at Canterbury. It has won both starts at this distance and it’s always a positive when Hugh Bowman takes the ride. $6 is available which will boost payouts.
