Best Bet at Warwick Farm – Comme Bella Fille

In the third race of the afternoon, the stayers get their chance in a 2400m Benchmark 78. John O’Shea and Tommy Berry combine with the talented Comme Bella Fille in what is now her fifth run this campaign. The four-year-old mare by Complacent has had 10 starts to date, winning three and finishing in the minor money on four other occasions, with her worst placing (10th of 14) coming all the way back in her debut run in New Zealand. Since being in Australia, this classy stayer has only missed the placings twice. Comme Bella Fille chased hard at Canterbury two starts ago over 1900m to win in the shadows of the post, before running a game 1.5-length third to Huetor, a gelding who is now three from three in Australia, over 2000m at Rosehill Gardens on December 4. O’Shea’s galloper is undefeated at Warwick Farm and also has a perfect record over this distance, so we expect her to be very hard to beat again, especially given she should get a great run in transit from barrier two.

Next Best at Warwick Farm – Rule Of Law

In race four, Bjorn Baker and Jason Collett combine with another promising four-year-old, Rule Of Law. The son of Snitzel has won three of his seven career starts, including a dominant win at this track and distance (1100m) on December 1 when sent around as a well-supported $1.85 favourite. The up-and-comer mixed it with the likes of Rocketing By and Equation over the summer months, before having a lengthy spell over the winter which prepared him beautifully for this campaign. The gelding showed his rivals a clean pair of heels first-up from barrier four and led most of the way, so expect similar tactics on Wednesday in the opening leg of the quaddie from barrier three. The 60kg is a lot to ask, but he won well with 59.5kg last time out, albeit in a slightly easier race than what he lines up in on Wednesday. He can lead and win.

Best Value at Warwick Farm – Gulf Of Panama

Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou saddle up Gulf Of Panama in just his second career start. The three-year-old gelding made his debut at this track on the first of this month in a 1200m Maiden where he chased hard to run second, 1.4 lengths off the classy Bartoselli, with a further 1.2-length margin back to the third horse. Bartoselli came out on December 17 at Canterbury and ran second to Kir Royale, a galloper who has now won back-to-back races, so that form looks to stack up. This son of Lonhro should take plenty of benefit out of his racetrack debut, while the addition of winkers and the rise in trip to 1300m should suit him perfectly. Jay Ford takes over from Tim Clark, while the weight drops 0.5kg to 57kg. Drawn off the track in gate 13, we are hoping to see Ford live up to his name and go forward on Gulf Of Panama and really put him into the race early. He looks to have ability; he will just need some luck in running.

Best ValueRace 2 – Gulf Of Panama (#5) $6.50 with Sportsbet
