Warwick Farm racing preview

Seven metro races will be run and won at Warwick Farm in Sydney on Wednesday. The track is rated a Soft 7, with the rail in the true position for the entire circumference of the course. Race 1 jumps at 2:10pm local time.

Best BetRace 1 – Mura Mura (#1) $3.10 with Sportsbet

Peter & Paul Snowden saddle up two-year-old filly Mura Mura, who looks to have a bit of ability. Having had the benefit of race experience (2:0-0-2), the daughter of Not a Single Doubt looks ready to win here after a lovely trial victory on Friday. Hugh Bowman will ride from barrier one, which will see her kick up and lead. She does give her rivals 2kg and 4kg, but she should be too good.

Next BestRace 3 – Harpo Marx (#2) $3.10 with Sportsbet

Bjorn Baker’s Harpo Marx was a dominant winner at Wyong last start when sent around as a $1.20 favourite for the 2100m Class 1 Maiden Plate. Used as an easy kill, the son of Galileo would have taken great confidence out of his 3.5-length win and should appreciate the extra distance here over a mile and a half. He’ll get back from the outside alley again under Rachel King on Wednesday, but with enough of a tempo set out in front by the likes of Eaglehawk, Harpo Marx can flash home late and be too strong for them here.

Best ValueRace 4 – Wairere Falls (#2) $4.20 with Sportsbet

Wairere Falls has found an ideal race to return to the winner’s circle. The four-year-old gelded son of Savabeel won two straight races earlier this prep before finding it a bit tough in town behind Bigboyroy and The Elanora at his latest effort. Chris Waller has elected to step him up to the 1600m, which will suit, and the soft going will do no harm either. Under Tommy Berry he will have to lug 60kg, half a kilo more than what he carried last start, but he comes up against some easier opponents. Drawn in barrier nine of nine, he will only have a few behind him as they corner for home, but if the track is playing towards the middle, he’ll be in the better ground out wide and can go straight past them.
