What Warwick Farm Races
Where Warwick Farm Racecourse – Governor Macquarie Drive, Warwick Farm NSW 2170
When Wednesday, May 12, 2021
First Race 12:50pm AEST

New South Wales metropolitan racing will be staged at Warwick Farm on Wednesday, May 12. The region has experienced some decent rain of late, which sees the track rated a Soft 7 at the time of writing. The rail will be out 3m for the entire circumference of the 1937m course. Horsebetting.com.au brings you our best bets and suggested quaddie for the seven-race program, which jumps at 12:50pm AEST.

Best Bet: Supremo

John Thompson will saddle up his impressive last-start winner Supremo in the second race of the day. The three-year-old gelding had trialled nicely prior to his first-up run, and that trial has produced a few winners since. He resumed on April 28 and jumped brilliantly at this track and distance, dictated terms and kicked away upon straightening to win by three lengths. Rachel King has retained the ride, so she should have him in a similar position in the run from gate six. The soggy conditions are a slight query, but he has placed on a soft track before and finished fifth behind Brookspire and Exoboom in a maiden on rain-affected going last campaign. He should get through the wet.

Next Best: Cotehele

A field of 10 two-year-olds will do battle in the opening race on Wednesday with a number of these aimed towards the Group 1 J.J. Atkins at Eagle Farm in a month’s time. The John O’Shea-trained Cotehele does not have the metropolitan form of Chris Waller’s pair, Greater Harlem and Celtic Harp, but his win at Newcastle was ultra-impressive, so we are confident that he can measure up in this. Brenton Avdulla partnered the son of Tavistock on debut over 1300m, where he found a beautiful run in transit and put the field away to win by three lengths. Drawn in barrier six on Wednesday, he will get back towards midfield and come into the race at just the right time.

Next BestRace 1 – Cotehele (#2) $1.65 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Bentley Magic

Five-year-old gelding Bentley Magic comes into this assignment now third-up and looks well placed after Tom Sherry’s 2kg claim. The son of Not A Single Doubt ran third to subsequent Wagga Town Plate winner Marway last time out over 1250m on the Randwick-Kensington track, and that looks good form coming into this Benchmark 72. Sherry’s claim brings the weight down from 61kg to 59kg, which is ideal for the Matthew Smith-trained gelding. Drawn low in barrier one, Sherry can have this gelding in the box seat just stalking the leaders before presenting him in the straight. Bentley Magic has won twice on soft tracks in the past, so the conditions might well favour him. At this price, he is hard to overlook.

Best ValueRace 7 – Bentley Magic (#1) $27 with Sportsbet
