HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for Wednesday’s seven-race meeting at Warwick Farm. The track is currently rated a Heavy 8, while the rail is out 3m for the entire course. The field for the first race of the afternoon is scheduled to face the starter at 2:20pm AEDT.

Best Bet at Warwick Farm – Comrade Rosa

John O’Shea and James McDonald combine in the last race of the day with three-year-old Comrade Rosa. This Capitalist filly won her maiden by 2.8 lengths Kembla Grange when on debut on November 2 and then was given pretty much no chance of winning at Rosehill on November 17, storming home to run third behind the talented Shihonka. On that occasion, Jason Collett opted to settle last in the run and pick the gaps between runners in the straight, and while she saved ground, she had too much to do, but her run was commendable all the same. McDonald will take over the reins on Wednesday, which is a big advantage here given he has ridden the filly in all three of her trials, so he has already built a good partnership with her. From barrier 11, the options won’t be too dissimilar from last time out, but Comrade Rosa does strike a bigger field and is likely to come in a couple of barriers once scratchings come out, so she can settle closer. She should also relish the rise from 1200m to 1300m.

Next Best at Warwick Farm – Tea Leaves

The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott stable have had a consistent few weeks, training 11 winners from their past 50 starters, and while Tea Leaves is far from consistent, he does get every conceivable chance on Wednesday. The three-year-old gelded son of Sebring has had seven starts for just the one win back in March at Newcastle over 1400m. He has had four starts since then, running narrow seconds on two occasions, including last start when three-one-hundredths of a length behind Oceanic Flash over 2100m at Wyong on November 16. Oceanic Flash does meet Tea Leaves 0.5kg better off at the weights after Tom Sherry’s 2kg claim, but with some added fitness in his legs and onto a bigger track at Warwick Farm, we think the latter horse can turn the tables. From barrier one, Tim Clark will take up the running, control the tempo and make his mount hard to catch.

Best Value at Warwick Farm – Tornado Light

We often see a couple of bush horses come to town at this time of year in New South Wales and win races, and we think Tornado Light can be the next runner to make a claim towards The Championships next year. This four-year-old mare has only had three starts, all of which came on rain-affected going, which is a big tick in her favour given that it is a Heavy 8. The in-form Tracey Bartley trains the daughter of Smart Missile, and after a successful first campaign at Scone, Muswellbrook and Tamworth, the trainer now believes that his runner is ready for a crack at metropolitan level. Tornado Light was a good winner on a Soft 6 on debut before running third at her next two starts on a Heavy 10 and a Soft 7 respectively, so we know she will handle the conditions. Drawn in barrier one for Kerrin McEvoy, she is likely to be ridden with cover in the second half of the field and really let down strongly late. The 1100m first-up should suit her, so we are happy to play on an each-way basis at $17.
