When Thursday, May 20, 2021
First Race 11:47pm AEST

The sole Queensland meeting on Thursday will be run in the southwest town of Warwick with a nine-race program scheduled to start at 11:47pm local time. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, and the rail is in the true position for the entire circumference of the course. HorseBetting.com.au’s Queensland form analyst has found three bets and a quaddie for the afternoon.

Best Bet: Ela Beach

Matthew Dunn and Michael Hellyer combine in the third with three-year-old filly Ela Beach, who has been knocking on the door in recent starts. The daughter of Holy Roman Emperor has had nine career starts, and while unable to breakthrough to date, she has finished in the minor placings on four occasions, with form around Better Get Set and Garoppolo standing out off the page. While she has not had a public trial or race since Boxing Day, she shouldn’t need to be too wound up to be ready to go over 800m first-up. She will be on the speed from barrier eight and should be very hard to catch.

Best BetRace 3 – Ela Beach (#7) $2.40 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Keepmoving Forward

Toowoomba-based trainer Michael Nolan sends his four-year-old gelding to Warwick on Thursday for what looks a very winnable race again for him. The son of Jet Spur was a dominant 5.5-length victor at Gatton last start, albeit on a Heavy 9 track which may have been the key to his success. He will be on a Soft 5 on Thursday, so the sting out again should suit. Gun apprentice Kyle Wilson-Taylor will be on his back, which can at times add a length or two, and with the inside draw, he should be able to ping the lids and lead all of the way.

Next BestRace 5 – Keepmoving Forward (#10) $2.50 with Sportsbet

Best Value: All Jeed Up

Mark Currie and Baylee Nothdurft are both at Warwick for one runner, and it comes up in the last race with All Jeed Up. The four-year-old son of Better Than Ready was a beaten favourite at Chinchilla two starts ago before running fifth at Beaudesert having led throughout. This is an easier race, and the drop back to 1350m will see him settle on the speed and take some running down. The gelding will need to overcome a wide gate, but if he finds a prominent position early without doing too much work, he can be there for a long way.

Best ValueRace 9 – All Jee (#8) $14 with Sportsbet
