Warrnambool Horse Racing Betting Preview
Eight races at Warrnambool round out the year that was 2020 on Thursday afternoon. In what has been a tough year for most of us, we’ll try our best to steer you into a few winners and hopefully snag the quaddie on the final day of one of the toughest years any of us have endured. With an overcast day forecast for the ‘Bool on Thursday, we’re set to be racing on a Good 4 throughout the meeting, and with the rail in the true position we’re set for a competitive afternoon of racing.
The first on New Year’s Eve is set to jump at 2:20pm AEDT.
The Maher and Eustace trained Red Santa has been ultra competitive in his first two starts in town to begin his career. His runner up performance at Moonee Valley three weeks ago showed he is more than capable of winning a few races throughout his career, and there looks no better day to begin than on New Year’s Eve at Warrnambool. From barrier one, expect Johnny Allen to take advantage of the rails draw and dictate terms. In a field that looks bereft of early speed he should get his own way out in front, and if that is the case he looks a touch too classy for this field in the opener at Warrnambool.

Upon resumption, the Mick Price trained Miss Damita was a bit of a hard luck story at Moonee Valley three weeks ago after being held up at a crucial stage. It was still however a positive return for the mare, considering her last start before a spell she was eased out of a BM70 at Sandown with heart issues. It looks like she has put those issues behind her, and looks primed to build on her impressive second-up record here (4:1-1-1). From the middle of the field, look for Dean Yendell to get her just behind the leading pair, and when asked for an effort she should prove too good for this field.

Two starts back, the Archie Alexander trained Star Jan was an impressive winner at Ballarat when resuming first up from a spell. She was a touch disappointing when running in a BM64 in town last time out, so she will be looking to bounce back from the below bar performance. She gets to her pet distance of 1400m and with the Blinkers being applied for the first time, there is no reason why she cannot be competitive in a tricky race to finish the Warrnambool card.
