When Sunday, June 19, 2022
First Race 11:35am AEST

Warrnambool Racing Club is scheduled to host an eight-race card on Sunday, where jumps fans are greeted with four competitive events over the obstacles, with the four quaddie legs set to be decided on the flat. Due to an abundance of rain in the lead up to the meeting, we will be racing on a Heavy 10, whilst the rail comes out to the 8m mark the entire circuit.

The day of racing is set to get underway at 11:35am AEST.

Best Bet at Warrnambool – Yulong Place

The Lyn Shand-trained Yulong Place was a 25-start maiden prior to heading to Hamilton on May 31, but his 25-length victory on a Heavy 10 suggests he will be the one to beat on Sunday. All of his rivals have won just once over the obstacle and on recent form alone, it is hard to see how any of the Galileo gelding’s rivals gets near him in the home straight. From barrier one, we anticipate Braidon Small will opt to take a sit of his rivals and stalk the speed throughout. He showed a clear pair of heels over the jumps and is decent enough on the flat to suggest he will take some beating. Yulong Place is a clear best bet of the day, and we are given a nice price to load into from online bookmakers.

Next Best at Warrnambool – Count Zero

The way the Symon Wilde-trained Count Zero has managed to win his last starts over the hurdles suggests he will be the one to beat in this 3200m hurdle event. He managed to get the better of Mighty Oasis during the Warrnambool May Racing Carnival by a narrow margin and then backed it up with a dominant 2.5 length victory at Casterton on May 15. Despite being a month between runs, as long as Count Zero brings the type of effort he has shown in recent times, some of these simply will not be able to go with him once the field straightens. Ronan Short will look to have the Zed gelding balanced up in the one-one throughout and following his 1.5kg claim, will have Count Zero going around with just 66kg on his back. With a clean performance over the jumps, we anticipate this bloke brings up a third straight win.

Best Value at Warrnambool – Alluring Grace

With a bit of luck, we have built a bank over the obstacles and can have a nice play in the third leg of the quaddie when Alluring Grace goes around in a 1100m 0-58 event. The four-year-old mare struggled in stronger company at Sandown on June 1, but prior to that was an eye-catcher when finishing third at Moe on a Soft 7. The effort at Moe was with plenty of merit, considering she was trapped wide throughout in a strung-out field, but still managed to hit the line with great intent. From barrier eight, as long as Adam McCabe does not get trapped wide, the I Am Invincible mare should relish the heavy going and with a nice turn of foot, Alluring Grace should prove too hard to hold out.

Best Value

Race 7 – Silk #2 Alluring Grace (8)

4yo Mare | T: Logan McGill | J: Adam McCabe (58kg)
