It’s Jericho Cup day on Sunday when Warrnambool puts on a nine race card for punters to sink their teeth into to help round out the weekend. The feature Jericho Cup over 4600 metres is the longest race on the flat in the country, and is worth $304,000 for the 14 horse field. The track has come up as a heavy 8 for Jericho Cup day and with rail in the true position throughout we are set fair for a great day of racing.
The first on Jericho Cup day will jump at 12:40pm AEDT.
Warrnambool Jericho Cup Day Tips & Best Bets
Race 4 #1 KissingerThe Lindsay Smith trained fiver-year-old gelding is a clear top tip for the Jericho Cup race card at Warrnambool. He went around in the opening event on Stakes Day at Flemington, but was trapped three wide with no cover for the duration of the race. He hit the front in the early part of the home straight, but was left vulnerable over the concluding stages off his tough run. Prior to that effort, he was a dominant winner at this track off a similar run that he faced at Flemington; but on that occasion had plenty left in the tank to go on with the job.

Race 7 #7 Glenferrie Girl
Adam Chamber and Dean Holland will be looking to repeat the last start victory they combined for with this four-year-old mare over this track and distance three weeks ago. The mare doesn’t know how to run a poor race, and considering she hasn’t run out of the quinella in her last three starts; she looks primed to continue her good form here. From barrier five she maps to be able to get up on speed quite easily with not much pace drawn underneath her. She is approaching peak fitness and the fitness edge may be what she needs to get the job done over her rivals.

Race 9 #7 Whowoodathort
Hopefully we have steered punters a couple of winners and we’re alive in the quaddie when we get to the final race on Jericho Cup day. We’ll be looking to ‘get out’ with the Vincent Malady trained five-year-old gelding who wasn’t disgraced in town a fortnight ago at The Valley. Was beaten by two lengths when settling towards the rear of the field on that occasion, and that form has been franked from his win two starts ago; with three of his rivals that trailed him in going onto win since that day. He’s a galloper who will settle towards the back of the field, so make sure to look for him late down the outside.
