Eight races are set down for judgement at Warrnambool Racing Club on Thursday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian tipster presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is out 6m for the entire circuit, and racing is set to get underway at 1:30pm AEDT.

Best Bet at Warrnambool – Hangyourhat

We need to wait until the last race of the day for our best bet, when the Paul Preusker-trained Hangyourhat looks to build on his first-up third at Terang on November 19. The four-year-old son of Reliable Man settled last on that day and cornered as the widest runner before unleashing down the centre of the track. Unfortunately, he ran out of time before picking up the two in front of him, but the step up to 1700m from 1400m second-up looks ideal. His sole career win in his three-start career came when second-up at Mildura, and if he is anywhere near the form he produced at Terang, his turn of foot should prove the difference here.

Best BetRace 8 – Hangyourhat (#6) $4.20 with Sportsbet

Next Best at Warrnambool – Canadian Gold

We were with the Tom Dabernig-trained Canadian Gold at Pakenham on November 5, but she put in an absolute stinker when finishing 10th. However, her form prior to that effort saw the mare put together two runner-up efforts behind the smart Super Thief and Swamp Vixen. She draws barrier 10 on Thursday, which should be no deterrent as she looks to get back and run on as it is. Hannah Edgley takes the steer, and her 3kg claim gets them in with 59.5kg – some 4kg off Mr Exclusive, the main market rival. With a genuine tempo expected over 1300m, we expect Canadian Gold to make the run down the centre of the track and finish over the top of her rivals in the third leg of the quaddie.

Next BestRace 7 – Canadian Gold (#2) $2.50 with Sportsbet

Best Value at Warrnambool – Grand York

Local trainer Symon Wilde will be hopeful his four-year-old gelding Grand York can keep himself out of trouble at his second start and bring up a maiden win. The son of Epaulette was held up at a crucial point over 1200m at Warrnambool on November 28 but managed to work home strongly between runners, suggesting he has above-average ability. He draws barrier one and steps up to 1300m here, while Joe Bowditch sticks on board. He’ll need a touch of luck on the home turn as he looks to angle off the rails, but if he is afforded that, he will take a power of beating.

Best ValueRace 4 – Grand York (#3) $6 with Sportsbet
