Racing heads to Wangaratta for an eight-part card on Monday afternoon. HorseBetting’s Victorian betting experts presents his best bets, odds comparison and free quaddie numbers for the meeting set to be run on a Heavy 10 and getting underway at 1pm AEST.

Best Bet: Queen Of Seas

Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra send their three-year-old Deep Field filly Queen Of Sass to Wangaratta where she is looking to go one better than her narrow runner-up effort on debut over the 1170m at Wangaratta on June 3. On that day, she managed to get across from the wide barrier and take up the running and despite being challenged at the top of the home straight she was only beaten by the barest of margins. Damian Lane takes over the ride for Monday’s effort and from barrier six he should have no issue getting the filly to the lead, where he can then dictate the speed and prove too good for the over 1300m.

Best BetRace 3 – Queen Of Seas (#12) $3.40 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Clap

The Robert Hickmott-trained Clap returns to the racetrack after a six-month spell in the paddock and having trialled nicely in the lead-up to this first-up run he looks hard to beat. The three-year-old son of Night of Thunder has form behind subsequent metropolitain winners, D’jumbuck, DiamondsInthe Sky and Group 2 Autumn Classic winner Parure at his last run of his debut campaign when finishing fourth, beaten 2.5 lengths. From the wide barrier (13) we expect Jack Hill to look for a spot just outside the leader, where he can settle just off the leader’s girth and when asked for an effort upon straightening, we expect Clap to put a couple of lengths on his rivals quickly and breakthrough for a maiden win.

Next BestRace 2 – Clap (#2) $2.10 with Sportsbet

Best Value: The Brightside

The Daniel McCarthy-trained The Brightside returns to the scene of his sole career victory and will be looking to make it a second win at the track from three starts. He was last seen finishing second at Wagga on June 11 beaten by close to three lengths. However, he settled no better than three wide with no cover up on speed, and still managed to put two lengths on his closest rival back in third. From barrier one, he should get a much sweeter run in transit and with Jack Hill back on board, Hill will be looking to maintain his undefeated record aboard the five-year-old. All they will need is a bit of luck at the top of the straight and if they are afforded such luck, we expect them to be too strong late in the third leg of the quaddie.

Best ValueRace 7 – The Brightside (#7) $7.00 with Sportsbet
