Best Bet: Cuffe’s Grange
Gerald Egan sends his three-year-old gelding Cuffe’s Grange back to the Wangaratta 1400m, where he was successful two starts back on April 29. He was last seen in the Wagga Guineas, where he was well beaten, but looks well placed in this BM64. Logan McNeil retains the ride, and his 2kg claim brings the weight down to just 59kg. With two wins from three starts at Wangaratta, including one already over the 1400m, we expect Cuffe’s Grange to go forward from the wide barrier (13) and prove too hard to hold out.

Next Best: Strategy
The Lloyd Kennewell-trained Strategy prevailed under tough circumstances at Kilmore on May 20 to break a run of three straight runner-up performances. On that day, he settled three wide with no cover and took over inside the final 150m to score by the barest of margins. From barrier 14, expect Jamie Mott to go forward on the son of I Am Invincible and look for cover close to the speed. The three-year-old gelding showed at Kilmore that even if he does get trapped wide in the running, he can get the job done on the back of a tough run, so he should be there or thereabouts in the finish no matter what.

Best Value: Ghost Doctor
In the second leg of the quaddie, the James Fraser-trained Ghost Doctor will be looking to make it three wins from his past four starts. He saluted at double-figure odds over the Wangaratta 1400m on April 24, and despite stepping back to the 1170m on Thursday, he is the one we want to be with. Alexandra Bryan hops back aboard the Keep The Faith gelding, who she has tasted success with twice before. If Ghost Doctor brings his best effort, he looks the one to beat at a nice price.
