Wangaratta quaddie tips and specials for Tuesday, September 19

quaddie of the week

WE are striking early in the quaddie market this week as the HorseBetting.com.au team heads to Wangaratta for an interesting nine-race card in the heartland of Victoria.

A $21 winner sunk us last week at Bendigo in our quaddie, but the experts at Horse Betting have been in-form on the tip in recent times and we head to Wang full of confidence.

Race six on the card is the John Sloan Memorial benchmark 58 over the 1400m trip, which kicks off the quaddie at 3.30 pm.

Race 6 – John Sloan Memorial BM58 (1400m)

Honourable Tycoon is racing in great form and will have ample opportunity to dictate its own terms from barrier four. The horse typically finds itself at the back of the field, and after a pair of scratchings prior to the meet there will be two less competitors to get past in the straight.

Trevor Sutherland’s Yawkey Way is been in stellar form, winning two of its last three races. After a disappointing showing at Wagga two starts ago the mare bounced back in Griffith, saluting by a length and a half.

Rustic Debutante is improving with every run and has the ability to break through at the fourth time of asking this preparation. The mare has finished within two lengths of the winner in its last two outings including a third placing in similar company last time out at Benalla. The wide barrier is a concern but it has early speed to go forward and make an impact on Tuesday.

Race 7 – John Duncan Memorial BM64 (1000m)

Despite drawing a wide barrier Cash Crisis is a speedy beginner that can cross from gate 10. The four-year-old is looking to shrug off its only racing blemish that came in May at Wagga, given it had previously won two races from as many attempts. Those two wins came at the Wangaratta track, where the horse is undefeated.

Our Gladiator is an in-form operator that will benefit from a good barrier this Tuesday. Last time out the horse was just off the speed and battled on well to record its second victory in three starts, and the horse returns to the 1000m journey where it has won twice and placed a further two times across eight attempts. The horse has won in the city before so country grade will be well within its grasp.

Doc’s Hero is looking to back up its first-up win at Pakenham as a short-priced favourite and has won previously second up in the past. Racing almost exclusively at the 1000m journey and has won twice and placed a further three times over ten attempts. The horse will be fitter for the first up run and will be right in the mix.

Race 8 – Crownbet BM58 (1509m)

Riley’s Rocket has been racing well without breaking through for a win recently, but after missing out by a slim margin last time out at Wangaratta, not much improvement needs to be made to win. From barrier five it will have ample opportunity to balance up and we are expecting a strong performance considering three weeks ago was its first attempt at track and distance.

You Would Think deserves one more chance after showing plenty of promise early in its career. Although it has never broken through for a win for the Hayes and Daberning stable, the mare has placed in five of its seven runs and will be given every chance away from the city and Geelong to register is maiden victory.

Chew Toy returns to the track after a fortnight off and it needs to be included in all quaddies. The horse has not saluted for a length of time but it has previously won at Wangaratta, recorded two wins at the distance, including one at the Tuesday track. Barrier four should present the horse a terrific opportunity to balance up nicely and we are back it to be catching the judge’s eye on the post.

Race 9 – P Macallister Hall of Fame C1 (1170m)

We think there would have to be something wrong if Natch does not take this race out. The horse has missed out on winning twice by less than half a length as a short-priced favourite, and after opening as the $1.90 top elect at Crownbet.com.au we do not see any reason to doubt the Maher runner.

One Hellofa Family made a great debut at Benalla at the beginning of the month, and had it not been for Natch, would be a lot narrower in the market. While it is not always easy to win straight out of maiden grade, the horse’s success was so convincing it would be remiss of us to leave it out.

Cubby was ordinary as a short-priced favourite at Warracknabeal on September 2, but we are willing to forgive following an awkward jump and subsequent vet’s examination. The four-year-old has proven its more than capable of matching it at this grade and will be one of the main dangers to Natch.
