A bumper nine-race card is scheduled for Wangaratta on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing expert presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the day. The track is rated a Heavy 9 with the rail out 4m from the 1000m to the 400m and then true for the remainder of the course, while racing is set to commence at 1pm AEDT.
Bairnsdale Best Bet – Sino Witness
The Ben & JD Hayes-trained Sino Witness comes to Wangaratta looking to go one better than his narrow defeat to Astroflight at Cranbourne on October 29. Having been sent around as a $2.80 favourite on that day, the Star Witness gelding over-raced badly in the first half of the run and was left vulnerable late on. Having only been nabbed on the line and considering they put 2.25 lengths on Our Tigersun in third, we expect Sino Witness to be too hard to run down here. From barrier 13, Daniel Stackhouse will roll forward and dictate terms, and with a quiet time expected out in front, they should be too fast over the 1400m.
Next Best Bet at Wangaratta – Philadelphia Storm
The Mike Moroney and Zac Spain combination will be looking to improve a debut second for Philadelphia Storm at Echuca on October 22. Having been held up for a run at a crucial time on the home turn, the three-year-old Choisir gelding hit the line with intent and looked to extremely unlucky. He draws barrier two on Tuesday, and if Spain can keep him out of trouble approaching the home turn, we expect to see Philadelphia Storm finishing better than the rest of his rivals as he brings up a maiden win at start two.
Best Value Bet at Wangaratta – Circle Of Magic
Mark and Levi Kavanagh will be hoping that Circle Of Magic can build on her recent form to begin her campaign and bring up a second career win at start nine. Having not finished worse than fifth in three runs this time in, the Per Incanto mare has looked to be screaming out for further and gets that here at the 1170m. If Joe Bowditch can have Circle Of Magic settled closer to the speed from barrier two than she previously has been, then we expect she is the one to beat in the opening leg of the quaddie.
