Untamed Diamond to be spelled before Brisbane Winter Carnival

A series of misfortune has put a spanner in the works in the race plans for quality stakes-winning mare Untamed Diamond.

Trained by Richard Collett, she had originally been earmarked to start in the Group 3 Darley Plate (1200m) at Ellerslie on Derby day before those plans were thwarted by injury.

“She had a throat infection and then we had her up and going with intentions of racing her over the Auckland Carnival for the Darley but she’s just pulled a hamstring muscle in behind, so she is back on the easy list,”

Collett said. “I’m not too sure what we’ll do, she could end up going to Brisbane again later in the winter where she was stakes placed last year.

“We’re looking at racing her here before she goes. For the time that we have missed, that seems the most logical path for her.”
