Uno Five continues purple patch of form

Trainer Bruce Hill has been so successful with consistent Uno Five he is looking to New Zealand to find another one like the stayer.

Uno Five ($3.90) responded to another heady ride from leading apprentice James Orman when he beat the favourite Cramming ($2.90) by 3-1/4 lengths in the Waxy’s Irish Pub Handicap (2200m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

The first 1200m of the race was run at such a slow pace that Orman went from last to first in 100m during the middle stages.

“They were walking in front so I decided to go and make it a good test home. He is such a good little horse,” Orman said.

Hill is also a big fan with Uno Five having 11 starts for him for three wins, four seconds, two thirds and two fourth placings.

“He is clean-winded and fit so he just goes around and picks up a cheque every few weeks,” Hill said.

“I have been looking for another strayer in the south in our price range but we might have to head to New Zealand to find one,” Hill said.
