Twitter reacts: Darren Weir’s stables raided by Federal Police
VICTORIAN trainer Darren Weir faces the fight of his life after police conducted early morning raids on his Warrnambool and Ballarat stables.
Information is still coming to hand but it is alleged a gun and a tazer were among the items seized by police, with three men arrested in relation to the raid.

The raids were part of an extensive investigation on the Weir stables, and while details are still coming to hand we thought we’d turn our attention to the good people of Twitter to gauge the reaction.
As always, we weren’t let down.
One Twitter user couldn’t help but make the comparison to another huge doping scandal from this decade.

Twitter loves the joke of “backing the wrong Weir runner” and one social media user believes that could have been the catalyst for the early morning raids.
My guess is someone in the police force just got sick of backing the wrong weir runner and decided to shut the whole thing down. Seems the logical answer

While another suggested a fellow embattled trainer takes on Weir’s responsibilities until the storm passes over.

While it’s all well and good to have some fun with it, there are very serious implications for racing if Weir is found to have engaged in alleged nefarious activities at his stables.
Unfortunately for some this could be the final straw when it comes to thoroughbred racing.
If Darren Weir is done for anything untoward to his stable, I am so done with thoroughbred racing. He's supposed to be one of the good guys!!!!
Racing, unfortunately, is becoming like cycling for me. Hard to get attached to anybody for fear of doping or illegal activity.
