Tumbler may have to head to Caloundra
Frustrated trainer Barry Lockwood has nominated Tumbler for the Sunshine Coast as a back-up plan after she was made an emergency at Doomben.
The Listed Bribie Handicap at Doomben on Saturday is the launching pad for many horses being aimed at next month’s Magic Millions carnival and has a full field of 14 with six emergencies.
Tumbler is regarded as one of the most promising horses in Queensland but her career has been dogged by injury.
She was to return to racing three weeks ago in the Keith Noud Quality but was scratched with a minor virus.
“Tumbler was 24th in line to get a start in the Bribie but ended up sixth emergency. Her chances of getting a start are remote,” Lockwood said.
“She can run at the Sunshine Coast. I will keep nominating her for the better races and hopefully she will finally get a start.”
There are two early scratchings from the Bribie but Tumbler will need another four to get a start.
Tumbler is one of 14 nominations for the Magic Millions Country Cup Qualifier at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday and is assured of a run.
