Racing will head out west this Tuesday afternoon, as the Hawkesbury Racing Club will host a very competitive eight-race program. The track is currently rated a Good 4, however, with a fair bit of rain forecast for Monday, we could start the race day on a Soft track. The rail will be in the True position, when racing kicks off at 1:15pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Hawkesbury: Moonflower
The first race of the day appears to be a nice race in which Moonflower from the Godolphin stable can break her maiden after finishing second-up last start at Wyong over 1300m. On debut, this three-year-old filly was very new and green, but her last start showed that she had improved significantly as she stepped up in distance to 1300m, only losing by a neck on the line to the fast finishing Speak Up. With only two rivals in this race on Tuesday finishing in the placings once in their careers, this Lonhro daughter is the clear favourite and the one to beat. Brenton Avdulla should get the run of the race and the box seat from barrier one; all she needs is a bit of luck on the home turn and this filly should be breaking her maiden in the first race of the day.

Next Best at Hawkesbury: High Plateau
The second race of the day will feature High Plateau, another of James Cummings’ runners, who will be looking to build on his very impressive debut victory over 1000m at Kembla Grange on February 23. After settling in the back of a small field, this four-year-old gelding made his way to the outside of the runners and let down with a blistering turn of foot to run straight by the leaders and win by two lengths over Russian Rose. Brad Rawiller will stick with this Lonhro son after riding him on debut, and we expect Rawiller to use similar tactics and settle just worse than midfield from barrier five. With a lot of speed expected again on Tuesday, the race should set up nicely for High Plateau to come from the back and repeat his debut win, giving him two wins from two starts.

Best Value at Hawkesbury: Zambrero
After breaking through for his second career win at Newcastle on February 25, the Matthew Smith-trained Zambrero looks primed for another shot at the 2000m on Tuesday, having run away from his rivals last start and winning by 2.25 lengths. This son of Stratum Star has had two runs at 1850m, finishing second two starts ago before winning, with each run demonstrating that he is improving as he increases in distance. Ellen Hennessy has ridden this gelding in his last two starts, and her decision to stick on Tuesday suggests that he is in top form and will appreciate the step up to 2000m, looking for back-to-back victories. From barrier nine, Hennessy will have to settle at the back of the field and loop the field on the home turn to try and repeat the dose from his most recent win. At the current price of $13 with online bookmakers, this guy looks well worth a bet coming off a strong win.
