Trainer Pat Carey will front the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board to answer a charge of assaulting fellow trainer Trent Pennuto.

Racing Victoria stewards charged Carey after he allegedly confronted Pennuto at Mornington racecourse on May 15, constituting misconduct or improper conduct.

Stewards allege Carey grabbed the front clothing of Pennuto while he was leading a horse, pushing him towards the stalls, before striking him in the face with his right hand.

The RAD Board will hear the charge against Carey on August 31.
