Townsville races betting preview – February 26, 2021
Townsville’s Cluden Park will play host to eight races on Friday for the last time before returning to its normal Tuesdays and Thursdays. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, while the rail is out +6m from the 1000m to the winning and +3.5m for the remainder of the course. The first field will face the starter at 1:34pm local time.
Best Bet: Brad
Need we say more? Brad is a living, breathing ATM for HorseBetting.com.au followers, and we are hoping he can notch his third win in February alone. The likeable racehorse has won nine of his 27 starts, including six of his last nine. He does have to carry the top weight on Friday (60.5kg), it should not be an issue for a horse that continues to improve with every race. The five-year-old is likely to box seat from barrier four and let Dalon lead the field up to the turn, and it will be Brad’s race to lose from there.

Next Best: Ruby July
Ruby July has the least race experience in this field of six in the opener, but boy, was she impressive on debut at this track and trip. She was a big firmer early in the market prior to her debut and justified it when going on to win by seven lengths in slick time. From gate four she is likely to find the front again under Nathan Day and should be able to lead them all the way again.

Andrew Cameron and Graham Kliese combine in the sixth with Opinions, who is having his second start in the state’s north. The son of So You Think was tested out to staying trips in New South Wales but didn’t show much there. He put in a great run when coming from last to finish fourth behind the talented Overseas first up over the 1400m. Up to the mile will suit, and the wide alley is not the worst thing in the world for him.
