Townsville race betting preview – March 29
Townsville’s Cluden Park will play host to just the seven races on Queensland’s standalone meeting on Monday. The track is rated a Soft 6 and the rail is out +4m for the entire circumference of the course. Horsebetting.com.au brings to you their best bets, value picks and Quaddie numbers for Monday’s card which kicks off at 1:45pm AEST.
Best Bet: Our Alicia’s Lane
Ben Williams and Graham Kliese combine with talented Real Saga mare, Our Alicia’s Lane. The five-year-old mare has won eight of her 22 career starts, which include six wins at this track and six over the 1000m. She hasn’t won first-up from four starts which is some query, but she gets in well here with 57.5kg; some 4kg less than Beau Jet who she beat at her most recent outing in July last year which sees her meet the nine-year-old 3kg better off. Drawn barrier five, Kliese will get her in a prominent position which should see her competitive late. A drying track will help.

Next Best: Bold Eos
Last start Townsville winner Bold Eos looks right in this again on Monday under Ryan Wiggins. The Jarod Wehlow-trained mare looks well placed back to 1300m on a wet track where she has won three and placed second in four attempts. Jumping from barrier three under Ryan Wiggins, the Spirit of Boom mare will go forward to find the front and should be too speedy. Wiggins partnered main danger Sunrise Dancer to a win at Mackay two back and then a third at Eagle Farm last start, but has elected to stick with Bold Eos which is a promising sign. She can go back to back.
Race 2 – Bold Eos (#1)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1364685_02]
Best Value: Goldie’s Archer
Four-year-old mare Goldie’s Archer was good first-up at Mackay last start after a 115 day spell. The daughter of Golden Archer does her best racing at Cluden Park, with two wins and a second from six starts. All three of the Wayne Winters-trained mare’s wins have come at 1000m, so she will be aided by the drop from 1100m to 1000m, especially given how she was reeled in late by Trump Me last time out. She will be taken forward under Marnu Potgieter from barrier two who gets her weight down to 53kg and she should prove too slick. She ticks all of the boxes.
Race 6 – Goldie’s Archer (#12)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1364685_06]
