Seven races will be run and won at Toowoomba’s Clifford Park on Saturday evening. The track is a Good 4 and the rail is out +5m for the entire circumference of the course. Race 1 will face the starter at 4:50pm local time.
Best Bet: Matilda Gene
Nick Hahn’s three-year-old Rubick filly was unlucky not to hold on last start at this track over the 1625m when she tried to lead all of the way. Drawn barrier four under her usual rider Rikki Palmer, she should be able to settle one out, one back and save her pennies for one last crack at them in the straight. She has run second in three of her six starts, with all of those runner-up efforts coming at this track. This looks her race to breakthrough.

Next Best: Boom Ranga
Robert Heathcote and Kyle Wilson-Taylor combine in the fourth; a three-year-old maiden over 1300m. Boom Ranga started favourite at the Sunshine Coast last start when fourth to Rozeira over 1200m. He led on that occasion and tired late, but he should get less pressure on Saturday on a track that tends to favour those close to the speed. Wilson-Taylor takes 2kg off his back with the claim, so he should be able to burn the candle at both ends and get the job done at start six.

Best Value: All Jeed Up
Mark Currie’s maiden gelding All Jeed Up was just edged out last time over the 1050m trip. He steps out to 1400m here which should suit, and Nathan Fazackerlay does the steering with 55.5kg after his claim. By Better Than Ready, the nine-start maiden should appreciate the rise in trip at his home track, and the soft gate should allow him to settle in the first two pairs. He has placed in three of his four starts here, so the home ground advantage should be enough to get him home.
