Toowoomba racing preview

Clifford Park plays host to eight twilight races from 4:31pm AEST on Saturday. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is in the true position for the entire circumference. Let’s take a look at the best bets on offer at our top-rated online bookmakers.

Best BetRace 1 – Je Suis Belle (#4) $1.40 with Sportsbet

Mark Currie and Kyle Wilson-Taylor combine with handy mare Je Suis Belle in just her sixth career start. Having not started since March, when she was a good winner at the Sunshine Coast, the daughter of Bel Esprit should be too classy for her rivals here first up. She loves the 1000m and broke her maiden at this track 12 months ago. She’ll either lead or sit outside the leader and should prove too good again.

Next BestRace 6 – Greatest Joy (#12) $2 with Sportsbet

This regally bred three-year-old filly is set to have just her second race start at Toowoomba of all places. By More Than Ready and out of Sunday Joy, she comes off a five-length defeat on debut at Hawkesbury in November. Drawn the rails, down on weight and staying at the 1300m, expect her to improve plenty in what is an easier race. Anthony Allen will do the steering on board Chris Waller’s mounts for the first time, so he’ll be out to impress. Seeing as she is bred to win Group-class races, a maiden at Toowoomba should be well within her reach.

Best ValueRace 3 – Count The Coin (#7) $9.50 with Sportsbet

Kevin Kemp saddles up talented three-year-old Count The Coin in the easiest race he has lined up in since his demolition job here three starts ago. He only finished five lengths off Dzsenifer and Better Lad last start, which is much tougher than the competition he faces here. He drops back to a Class 1 and gets back to 1300m, which is the distance he was dominant over on October 31. Barrier three looks ideal for Skye Bogenhuber to settle in the back half and finish over the top late.
