Mark Currie and Nathan Fazackerlay combine with the toppie in the opener, Exceed Rock. The four-year-old has won just the two from 16 starts, but they both came at his home track here at Toowoomba. Fazackerlay will take 2kg off the gelding’s back, which will be a big advantage given they have drawn wide in barrier 11. The pair will go forward from there and look to lead or sit outside the leader, and with the home-ground advantage they should prove too good.

Best Value: Kaarchi
Ex-Victorian galloper Kaarchi looks well placed on Thursday night in a 1000m Benchmark 62. The Tony Gollan-trained mare made her Queensland debut at Ipswich four weeks ago over the 1200m, and she was only fair in that. Back from metropolitan grade to provincial should be advantageous, and the reduction in trip to 1000m will be more up her alley. With Georgina Cartwright aboard from barrier six, the girls can settle midfield and could be going two to their one late.
