Feature racing in Queensland heads to Toowoomba on Saturday afternoon with the Listed Weetwood Handicap (1200m) headlining the nine-race program. Supported by the Toowoomba Cup (2000m), the meeting is set to be held on a Good 4, while the rail will be in its true position.

The first event at Toowoomba is set to jump at 1:48pm AEST.

Weetwood Handicap tip: Nettuno

Nettuno draws a peach in gate three and gets Ryan Maloney back aboard — ideal to absorb pressure and kick at the 250m in a fast-run Weetwood. He’s proven at 1200m and looks to get first run on the deeper closers from a stalking spot. With a clean jump and even tempo, Nettuno is the one they’ll need to nail late in Saturday’s feature.

Ben Thompson should land leaders’ back or box seat, and if the breaks come turning for, the Maher-trained import’s sustained finish can prove decisive late. He ticks the weight, map and set-up boxes to be landing the Toowoomba Cup.

Best Bet: Substantial

Tony Gollan has found a very winnable Class 6 for Substantial, who brings superior 1400m form lines back to 1300m and draws to get the run of the race. With Ryan Maloney booked and topweight befitting his rating, he can park just behind the speed and use his proven late strength up the Toowoomba straight. THe eight-year-old gelding is rock-hard fit, has a class edge, and a kind map — Substantial will take some holding out.
