Toowoomba Cup 2020 betting tips, odds & form

Factory Warrior racing news
Factory Warrior’s stellar track record could serve him well in the Toowoomba Cup.

The 2000m TAB Toowoomba Cup is the main race on Toowoomba’s nine-race card this Saturday. A full field of 16 has been assembled, which sees Reckless Choice the current favourite over New South Wales visitor Bajan Gold. There doesn’t look to be too much speed engaged, with local runner Factory Warrior likely to lead alongside Fighting Teo and Free Fly Too.

Best BetFactory Warrior Get the best odds

Toowoomba can often be a horses-for-courses type of track. One horse who will love being on his home deck is Factory Warrior, who has won each of his five career starts at the Queensland course. Trained by Mark Currie at Clifford Park, the five-year-old will roll forward from barrier eight under Matthew McGillivray. He has never raced beyond 1850m but was a dominant winner over that trip at this course in his only start at the distance, so we expect he will relish 2000m. He gets in on the minimum with 54kg, which will be of great benefit here. First up he ran behind subsequent winner Beaufort Park and then placed 0.1L behind Seeingisbelieving at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, so the form around him is very good. He can give a big sight here at odds.

Next BestFree Fly Too Get the best odds

The well-travelled Free Fly Too comes off a solid second placing to the in-form Skate To Paris at Listed level last start, and we expect him to be hard to beat here. While he has never fired a shot in three third-up performances, he will take great benefit from two Queensland runs and the step up in trip. We like to see that Ben Thompson stays aboard and hope that he is positive from barrier five. Free Fly Too let down really nicely last start over a mile, so stepping out to 2000m will be advantageous. This horse has contested some fairly decent races in his career and we expect him to be right in this.

Best ValueBajan Gold Get the best odds

There is value everywhere you look in this race, but one horse at the top of the market that is a deserved second elect is Cody Morgan’s Bajan Gold. Shooting for three in a row, he will need to go to another level here but looks to be a nice stayer on an upward spiral. He has never missed the places in four starts over 2000m and will enjoy the moderate tempo. Andrew Mallyon won on the six-year-old last start and retains the ride here, which is good to see. From barrier 11, they’ll land in a midfield position and get every chance in the business end.
